Carl's Coffin
Script:
A man is in his workshop/garage, cutting wood, building something.
SFX: THE SOUND OF A POWER SAW
He carefully measures a wood plank.
ANNCR: You built it.
With goggles on, he cuts wood under the power saw.
ANNCR: Bit by bit.
He carefully hammers something.
ANNCR: Year after year.
We can hear more sawing, cutting, hammering. He uses a power sander.
ANNCR: You've given it everything you have.
He pauses, struggling to breathe. He rubs his chest and coughs harshly.
ANNCR: And it might be your final creation.
He hammers in one last nail and stops, standing up. He looks down at his creation. The camera reveals it - a large, homemade coffin. He looks down into it and coughs again.
CARL: [Grimly] I'm done.
He pulls out a cigarette, looks at it-and then looks at the coffin.
