The We Are Not Profit campaign focus is to shine light on the harm of menthol cigarettes and Big Tobacco’s long history of targeting these products to African American/Black communities. It also reveals the manipulative tactics Big Tobacco uses to spread misinformation to African American/Black communities about local policies restricting the sale of menthol cigarettes. Through the use of documentary-style photography and videography, this campaign elevates the beauty, rich history, and individuality of African American/ Black communities and juxtapose it against the Tobacco Industry’s dark intentions. The goal is to motivate, raise awareness, and mobilize an influential audience to lead the way for the rest of the community.
