Goals:
The Fresh Start campaign connects Alaska adults with free programs for better health. The Alaska Department of Health (DOH) launched Fresh Start in December 2022 to help more adults find and join these free, flexible programs to prevent and better manage chronic diseases. Fresh Start connects Alaskans to multiple different programs.
Strategy:
The campaign messages focus on what Alaskans value about these programs: they are no-cost and affordable, they provide support through coaches, and you can do them anytime and anywhere. Testimonials are powerful ways to tell stories and show the effectiveness of health improvement programs.
Results:
Two rounds of focus groups were used to inform messages shared through Fresh Start. A key finding of the focus groups follows: Participants said in discussions that they wanted to see Alaskans and preferred ads that had images featuring Alaska Native people or rural scenes of activities and families.
