ScreeningThe eligible population can be expanded by screening some or all persons without a recent screening.

Program Enrollment and ParticipationParticipation inputs below are applied to the eligible population. The eligible population is calculated based on population characteristics and the risk group selected.

Intervention Weight Loss and Regain ScheduleDefault values reflect average percentage weight loss and regain trends based on data from the National Diabetes Prevention Program.

Enter the cumulative percentage of weight lost each year relative to baseline weight (must be less than 10%):Weight loss is cumulative, relative to the baseline weight (i.e. a value of 0 means that the weight is the same as it would've be without the program). The default values show the greatest weight loss in year 1 with a gradual regain in years 2, 3 and 4. These values are based on persons who participated in the National DPP. Participation is defined as attending at least 4 program sessions. Weight losses greater than 10% will lead to results with low credibility under the current model assumptions.

Annual Diabetes-attributable Medical Costs per PersonDefault values reflect average diabetes-attributable medical costs based on a longitudinal analysis of medical claims data (MarketScan 2001-2013). Diabetes-attributable medical costs are the excess medical costs for a person with diabetes as compared to a similar person without diabetes. Medical costs include the cost of medications.
