Awareness of chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains low in the United States. Estimates of awareness among adults with CKD are based on laboratory measures in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Provider awareness is gauged based on diagnosis codes of patients with laboratory results that indicate CKD within a health care system.
