The prevalence of kidney damage was high between 2001 and 2020, with ~10% of U.S. adults showing some degree of albuminuria; with microalbuminuria being far more common than macroalbuminuria for eGFR ≥30 ml/min/1.73 m².
About one-third of those with eGFR of 30-59 ml/min/1.73 m² (CKD stage 3) and over half (not shown) of those with eGFR of 15-29 ml/min/1.73 m² (CKD stage 4) had micro- or macroalbuminuria.
