The prevalence of hypertension by self-report or measured blood pressure ≥140/≥90 mmHg in the U.S. adult population was highest in people aged 60 to 69 years or 70+ years (66-84% vs. 19% in 20- to 39-year-olds); non-Hispanic black (52% vs. 47% and 31% for white and Mexican-American, respectively), or those with obesity (56% for BMI ≥ 30 vs. 36% for BMI <30 kg/m²).
