Chart Explanation: During 2016-2018, 4,363 patients who were ≤21 years of age reported the occurrence of treatment for ESRD in the United States. Adolescents (18 to 21 years) had the highest adjusted incidence of treated ESRD (31 cases per million) of the age groups while Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders had the highest total adjusted incidence compared to whites, African-Americans, Asians and Native Americans (70 vs. 15, 23, 12, and 10 cases). Male children and adolescents had a higher adjusted incidence rate compared to females (18 vs. 14 cases per million respectively).
