Goals:
To promote public awareness and involve local business and industry leaders in the Active Southern West Virginia physical activity campaign by developing messages and prompts for employers to promote physical activity in the workplace - businesses, schools and communities.
Strategy:
The WV physical activity campaign aims to create environmental change to encourage physical activity where people live, work, eat, play, and pray. West Virginia employers, churches school, and industry leaders should play a crucial role in promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles among their workforce.
Results:
The poster campaign has been implemented by city government, higher education, and a social service office. Each location displayed the posters the same day as receiving. The higher education center added their logo to the available blank space on the posters utilizing their in-house designer. The social service office reported the posters are a reminder to their wellness committee to spend time each day working on their Workplace Wellness action items. The workplaces adopting the poster campaign were surveyed every three months about the display process and behavior changes.
