Global Tobacco Surveillance System Data (GTSSData) - Help

Search for Data in GTSS

The Home page contains several sections that allow you to search for, select, and view data in several different ways. You can view data by location using a flash map that allows you click on a region on the map and then drill all the way down to the exact location (if available) and then click on the desired survey. You can also choose to view data by indicator, where you can click on a topic, select an indicator, and then view the desired survey in a table or map.

View Data by Location (View all indicators for one location)

This section allows you to select a location using three different ways and then view all indicators for the selected location. Each method for selecting a location allows you to drill down to the exact location and then ultimately view the data that has been collected for that location. You can choose a location in the following three ways:

• Select a location from the map
• Select a WHO region, a country/survey site from the dropdown lists and click GO
• Display a country list and then select the desired location/survey site

View Data by Indicator (View one indicator for all locations)

The View Data by Indicator section allows you to view results of one indicator for all topics and locations that have data available for that indicator. You can select a population and select a tobacco topic or MPOWER objective to view for the selected population. You can also click the View all indicators by Topic link to view all the indicators for all health topics. Survey Resources

The Survey Resources section allows you to view policies and procedures guiding data collection and processing. You can select a survey resource, for example, Publications, to view more information for the resource. The section has the following resources: Fact Sheets, Survey Documents, Country Reports, Publications, Datasets, and Partners.

To view Fact Sheets:

1. Click the Fact Sheets option.
   
2. In the Population (Survey) dropdown list, select the desired population or survey. The system populates the WHO Region and Countries/Survey Sites lists based on the selected population or survey.
3. In the WHO Region dropdown list, select the desired regions from the dropdown list. You can also select All Regions.
4. In the Countries/Survey Sites dropdown list, select the desired country or survey site from the dropdown list.
5. Click GO. The system displays links for accessing the fact sheet for the selected population or survey for the available years.
   
   
   
   
6. Click on a link and follow the prompts to view the file or save the file to your computer.

To view documentation or resources for a population or survey:

1. Click the Survey Documents option. The system displays the documentation or resources that are available for the selected population or survey.
   
   
   
   
2. Review the document and if necessary, select another survey and document type and click GO.

Country Reports

To view Country Reports:

1. Click the Country Reports option.
   
2. In the Population (Survey) dropdown list, select the desired population or survey. The system populates the WHO Region and Countries/Survey Sites lists based on the selected population or survey.
3. Click GO. The system displays the country reports for the selected countries/survey sites. Click on the link under the Year column for a particular country to view the country report. The system identifies the year and the language in which the report is written if other than English.

Publications

Click the Publications option. The system displays the Publications section, which lists available publications and print materials that are associated with GTSS. The system displays a comprehensive and detailed list of the publications and provides links for accessing them. Click the Report link to view the associated report.

To view Datasets:

1. Click the Datasets option.
   
2. In the Population (Survey) dropdown list, select the desired population or survey. The system populates the WHO Region and Countries/Survey Sites lists based on the selected population or survey.
3. Click GO. The system displays the datasets for the selected countries/survey sites.
   Note: Click the expand link to view all the survey sites associated with a country that has multiple survey sites. After viewing the expanded list, you can click collapse to close the list.

Partners

The Partners section displays a list of organizations who partnered with GTSS to develop the the Global Tobacco Surveillance System (GTSS). To view more details, click on the partner name.

About GTSS

The About GTSS section displays a list of the surveys available in GTSS.

To view information about a survey:

1. Click on the desired survey. The system displays the Documentation Resources page with the overview information for the selected survey.
   
   
   
   
2. To view the protocol information for the selected survey, select Protocol from the Document Type drop down list and click GO. The system displays the protocol information.
   
   
   
   
3. Click on a link to view the document.

New in GTSS

The New in GTSS section displays features that a new to GTSS for a release. You can click on a link for a particular new feature to view more information pertaining to the feature being displayed. Use the left and right arrows ( ) to navigate to the previous or next feature.
